Bulk Importing of Devices into BlueCat Address Manager

Preface

University Networking & Infrastructure (UNI) offers a service to import devices into the BlueCat Address Manager (BAM) in bulk. Technology Service Professionals will have the ability to request the importing of 25 or more devices into BAM at one time by CSV file.

Eligibility & Order Procedures

Available To: LSU Technology Support Professionals (TSPs) ONLY.

Minimum Device Limit: 25 or more devices to be imported at one time.

Request Service: Submit a Ticket to request the bulk import of devices into the BlueCat Address Manager. Please attach a CSV file of the items to be imported and assign the ticket to NASA.

Delivery Timeline: Bulk import requests will be fulfilled within 3 business days.

Getting Started

A CSV file will need to be created with very strict formatting.

CSV Format

state,MAC,FQDN,IP

Example of a correctly formatted CSV:
dhcp reserved,BB:BB:BB:BB:BB:10,bulkbamtest1.lsu.edu.,130.39.251.19
dhcp reserved,BB:BB:BB:BB:BB:11,bulkbamtest2.lsu.edu.,130.39.251.20
